UPDATES ON CHURCH SERVICES
We received such a warm welcome from the wonderful students and staff at a recent visit which was requested by the Academy as we talked about and discussed what we as Christians did in the Community (Serving God - Serving the Community).
The children also did some fantastic Posters advertising Events for us!
A Mini Choir from Waverley Junior Academy practiced various songs - which they performed in the Chapel at our Christmas Fayre on the 20th November.
They were fantastic and contributed brilliantly to the overall success of the Fayre!
We subsequently worked together with the Academy to hold two 'Christingle' Events
in the Academy Main Hall on the 10th December. This turned out to be a wonderful experience enjoyed by all - especially the team from church (Chris, Belle and Gordon).
The Christingles created a special atmosphere with the lights out during the singing of Silent Night.
Many thanks go to Katie Walton & other teachers for making all this possible - along with all the children who were able to take part (including the Mini Choir again).
We are looking forward to further collaboration in the New Year - possibly at our Fun Family service on 9th January 2022.
OTHER EVENTS AT TREETON BAPTIST CHURCH
Tuesday evening - 7th December 2021 - was a wonderful experience with the Salvation Army and their fantastic Brass Band - the congregation chose so many wonderful Carols that the band played brilliantly - and what a wonderful voice the Salvation Army Captain has. IMPORTANT NOTICE - REF COVID 19
FOLLOWING THE GOVERNMENT'S ANNOUNCEMENT (on 27th November 2021) WITH REGARD TO EXTRA MEASURES REF OMICRON VARIANT CONCERNS - FROM 10th December FACE MASK ARE ONCE AGAIN MANDATORY IN PLACES OF WORSHIP - HOWEVER IT SEEMS THAT SINGING WILL BE PERMITTED BEHIND MASKS.
LAST UPDATE ON COVID
N.B. Following the Government announcement on 19/07/21 and subsequent follow up information - we awaited the stabilisation of associated Baptist Union Guidelines - and can report that our Leadership Team held a review on 15th August 2021. At that meeting we agreed a Covid Addendum approach to our Health & Safety Policy. This Addendum was signed off by our Chair of Trustees on 27th August. We are also updated our Covid Control Action Lists document to reflect this and the review against BU's latest Coronavirus Risk Assessment template.
We will continue with good ventilation, diligence in hygiene, and will encourage people to wear masks to protect others especially during singing.
We have also set up a 'sanctuary' area on the LHS of the rear of the Chapel for those wishing to maintain full social distancing/mask wearing.
The Exercise Group on Thursday afternoons (3pm) has restarted
along with the Library Coffee mornings (9:30am - 12:30).
We have recently held two weddings and several Dedications.
Services take place at 10:45 on Sunday mornings.
Occasionally we may continue to screen the on-line service from a sister church in Portugal - but have now mainly returned to 'normal' face to face services.

PREVIOUS COVID 19 UPDATE INFORMATION
AS FROM 5th JANUARY 2021 - FOLLOWING THE GOVERNMENT'S INTRODUCTION OF THE 3rd (?) NATIONAL LOCKDOWN (REFLECTING THE RAPID SPREAD OF THE UK MUTATED COVID 19 VIRUS) -
IN LINE WITH OUR BAPTIST UNION ADVICE - THE CHURCH WAS EFFECTIVELY CLOSED
(EXCEPT FOR ESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE, ADMIN, ETC)
UNLESS MENTIONED BELOW UNDER UPDATE INFORMATION THIS MEANT WE HAVE NOT BEEN HOLDING ANY EVENTS ETC (See below) - OR HOLDING MANY WORSHIP SERVICES until May/June.
Although, as previously (see below) we have been prepared to host funerals when possible/permitted.
NO COMMUNITY EVENTS
taking place within the church buildings or grounds
i.e. No weekly Library Coffee Morning; Thursday Exercise Group;
Sugar Craft Group; No monthly Lunch Club, Ladies nights etc; &
All 2020 annual ‘social’ events had already been CANCELLED
(e.g. Summer Garden Party, Bonfire Party; Autumn/Christmas Fayre;
and the Salvation Army & Christingle Events).
AND UNFORTUNATELY THIS MAY HAVE TO BE THE CASE FOR THE REST OF 2021.
NOTE: WE DID DECIDE TO HOLD THE CHRISTMAS FAYRE & HOPE TO HOLD THE SALVATION ARMY AND CHRISTINGLE EVENTS
We continue to pray that the COVID situation improves significantly. We pray for all those who have died and for their families - & for all those still suffering directly with COVID or indirectly because of COVID
(we think particularly of Indian situation at this time - including guiding the UK & other Governments how to assist in India & reduce risks of the B.1.617.2 (Delta) Variant from spreading elsewhere).
We pray for God's healing - in the name of Jesus our saviour. AMEN.
UPDATE INFORMATION
As the vaccination programme became well advanced - we were able to hold an EASTER PRAISE service on 4th April 2021 - and then a PENTECOST (Whit Sunday) service on 23rd May.
Since then we have been coming together to worship via our big screen 'on-line' services compiled by
a sister 'Baptist based' church in Portugal - see below 'ON-LINE SERVICES VIA YOUTUBE'.
If anyone wishes to attend any services PLEASE DO CONTACT US to ensure we can do our best to accommodate you - since numbers have to be limited due to continued social distancing.
(We are also still hoping to hold some outdoor services weather permitting!)
(Note: An Advent worship service did take place on 20.12.2020)
If anyone wishes to attend our services PLEASE CONTACT US to ensure we can do our best to accommodate you - since numbers have to be limited due to continued social distancing.
We have also been looking at the possibility of holding Outdoor Services to permit 'congregational' singing (which is not permitted inside the Chapel). A Risk Assessment has been completed - now praying for some good weather - various actions still need to put in place too.
Funeral services will continue as needed
NOTE: During the 2nd 'Lockdown' we were so glad to be in a position to respond to a request from Pastor Dave Goddard to host a funeral for his friend. Dave led that service held on 30th November 2020 and gave us this very positive feedback:
A BIG thank you to TREETON BAPTIST CHURCH...the Funeral of Stuart Smith went lovely...again thanks to everyone that helped clean and prepare the Church...you all did amazing. People also commented how clean the Church was...and that all Government procedures due to Covid were in place and followed. Treeton Baptist Church was mentioned and thanked at the Graveside by the family...a few people also said they would attend a service there when things are back on.
AS AT 26.11.2020/AND THEN ON 15.12.2020, etc)
We have addressed the possibility of re-opening for COVID control style services – taking account of:
the latest Government Rules (which as we know can change rapidly) - alongside the regularly updated Yorkshire Baptist Association/Baptist Union Guidance.
To
ensure public Health and Safety - particular emphasis has been given to
conducting COVID 19 Risk Assessments - to enable actions to be identified (and now implemented) to permit shorter than normal services to take place (although only Funerals could take place during 2nd National Lockdown).
The control actions and restrictions during such services have been shared (particularly for feedback) with Church Members and regular Attendees (as far as practicable). We received enough feedback for the Trustees to be able to arrange 'COVID Controlled style' shorter worship services - when permitted.
EARLIER COVID 19 INFORMATION (UPDATE AS AT SEPTEMBER 2020)
We can still confirm that presently (as stated back in March 2020 see below) - the church is CLOSED to the public. This means no church services are taking place at Treeton Baptist Church (unfortunately - currently that includes Weddings and Funerals.
As from now (21st March 2020) - all Treeton Baptist Church services and smaller gatherings - including all the EVENTS (as previously advertised) - have now been cancelled until further notice. Effectively the Church is closed until further notice. (This follows Government advice that emphasised that we should avoid social interaction and gatherings - subsequently clarified in Parliament that this included religious gatherings such as church services. Smaller family-sized gatherings were also included in the advice. In the light of the Government advice - our Yorkshire Baptist Association have concluded that churches should not gather for worship on Sundays, nor in smaller group meetings. As you will all now realise - these are measures to protect those who are vulnerable and to care responsibly for those within our congregation and in the wider community.) However, Maintenance & Administration aspects continue where possible.

PREVIOUS EVENTS ETC:
REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY:
It was moving to see so many people at the Baptist Chapel, including youngsters, attending the Remembrance Service which was led sensitively by 'stand-in' Gordon Hawley (we pray Maureen will soon feel better) - with the 'Message' given by Carole Robinson of St Helen's on the subject of 'Love'.
In the crisp sunshine, Chris Nuttall led the time at the War Memorial - where the Two Minute Silence was observed at 11am after the bugle sounded 'The Last Post'. The Silence was then broken by the playing of 'Reveille'. Once wreathes and other tributes were laid, people returned to the warmth of the chapel to conclude the service with prayer, poem and song. The final song was the fittingly The Dambusters Hymn (God is our strength & refuge). People then reminisced over refreshments in the Community Library which is housed in the church.
The collection raised over £200 for the work of The Royal British Legion. May the Lord bless their work - and the givers.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COMMUNITY BONFIRE PARTY:
After two very wet days of preparation who would have thought that the Bonfire would light so well at 6.30pm precisely on the 5th November. This was a real tribute to Colin (our master Bonfire Builder - who was also assisted by Brian, Gordon and particularly Mark Hawley this year. Many thanks to them - and to Ian for helping to prepare the grounds before hand.

PREVIOUS MAJOR EVENT:
Community Garden Party was held in the grounds at Treeton Baptist Church on
Saturday 13th July
The rain held off and a great time was had by all - both young and old – with an obvious community spirit abounding. It was lovely to see so many children enjoying themselves – playing at football and other games (thanks to Simon) – many sporting lovely painted faces (thanks to Rosie). There was food from hot dogs to cakes (thanks to the kitchen ladies) and array of different stalls (thanks to all stall holders) – including bric-a-brac, numerous crafts, tombola, pull-a string, and an extensive raffle - with 20 winners – all accounted for too!
A big thank you goes to all the following who supported the event with donations of Raffle Prizes etc: Morrisons and JTF of Catcliffe; the Swallownest Co-op; Guilthwaite Nurseries of Whiston; all these Treeton establisments: Foers, Xzibit Hair & Beauty Salon, Just Fayes, Miners Welfare, Cricket Club, Glenwood Kitchens, The Post Office, Nichols Shop, Rome Pizza, Treeton Community Centre and various Treeton Baptist Church members.
Many thanks go to everyone for coming along and those stalwarts who help prepare the grounds and clear up afterwards.
